Abstract
Cerebrospinal fluid electrolytes including Na, K and BUN were measured serially in 70 cases of various cerebrovascular accidents and were compared to those of sera in relation to the kinds of C.V.A. and progression of the diseases.
The results were as follows:
1. Normal value of CSF Na was almost same to that of serum but normal value of CSF K was lower than that of serum. And the normal values of CSF K were relatively narrow in range in comparison to those of sera.
2. The change of CSF K level in subarachnoid hemorrhage cases showed a progressive decrease until 5 days after onset and then a progressive increase after about 5 days.
3. In intracerebral hemorrhage cases, the CSF K level changes were not regular and some of the cases showed a marked initial increase after onset of the disease.
